“Man” means mind in sanskrit, “dala" means dimension in sanskrit. Mind dimension refer to have a pure vision on all phenomena, avoiding to view outside world with any kind of negative impressions, when negative thoughts conquer your mind, then it destroys your pure vision, then mandala - the mind dimension will likely be disturbed. Our intension to have a mandala is in order to grow a positive mind rather than a critical mind. Critical minds only care right or wrong, good or bad. whereas a positive mind cares whether if you need love, compassion, if you do, then a positive mind will use the chance to extend it’s capacity of loving kindness by compassionate actions, words or thoughts. 

 

For you to participate in the sand mandala ceremony at the 4th International Congress on SowaRigpa - Traditional Tibetan Medicine is that we would like you to see the process of the sacred construction of sand mandala, it is the similar to the process of how you are building your life. small details of sand mandala amazes you with how much effort the lamas put in making them, yet no matter how beautiful the mandala is, no matter how many hours spent on making them, at the end it will be destroyed in a few seconds, similarly to our life, impermanence can destroy anything anytime. finally the sand will be returned to where it belongs. therefore this is one of the precious moments where we can experience impermanence, by understanding impermanence it helps us to understand death, by understanding death, it helps us to appreciate life.
